For 203k reno you’re required to preserve the existing foundation. The foundation can be expanded, but you must keep the existing foundation intact.
Conventional reno is a little different, the guidelines have been somewhat in flux. Generally, we’ve found that the existing structure (foundation and framing) must be preserved.
